What to do in Palermo in Autumn

Palermo is an amazing city every single season of the year and not only for its mild climate. Of course, in autumn the heat becomes more bearable and the temperature is holding more pleasant until the end of november. Rainy days are rare and still followed by beautiful sunny days. The season is, therefore, perfect to combine visits to the city’s maon attractions with a nice sea water bath, without the typical sicilian summertime chaos. Moreover, the cost of transportation and housing is lower compared to spring-summer and it is possible to rent an apartment at favourable prices.

What to do?

This year there is Manifesta 12 which in itself deserves a a trip. In October, then, Palermo becomes the scenario of a festival, thanks to Le Vie dei Tesori, which provides for events, meetings, exhibitions, shows and cultural walks. In between the exhibitions, one can go to the beach. Mondello beach is easily reachable with bus 806 from the city center in approximately 20 minutes. Swimming is still enjoyable at least until the end of October. In alternative? It can be funny to make a different experience in order to explore other seaspots nearby (Capo Gallo, Barcarello, Sferracavallo), but not by bus in this case. Here are three suggestions:

renting scooter

renting a bike

renting a car

Upon returning from the beach, several bars and restaurants of the old town offer enjoyable aperitivos outside, you can find many suggestions in our guide.

If it rains, and if you are exhausted from the visits to Manifesta 12, Palermo is full of many others attractions:

•  Real Palace and Palatina Chapel

•  Archeological Museum Salinas

•  Massimo Theatre

•  GAM (Modern Art Gallery)

•  Palazzo Abatellis
